The Starlight Orchestra was created in 1988 under the direction of Anthony Terpstra. Terpstra's motivation in forming this band was to entertain audiences with the dance music that he has always liked.

This ethic proved to be the defining element in the Orchestra's popularity, pleasing varied audiences in concert halls, ballrooms and corporate events alike. Both Ballroom Amateurs and Professionals have danced to the rocking rhythms of "the best in the city".

The Starlight Orchestra keeps the tradition of ballroom dance alive, interpreting the most recognizable favorites which include the Tango, the Vienna Waltz, the Cha-Cha, Rumba, Meringue, Samba, Salsa, Swing, Jump, the Jitterbug and the Polka.

Described as "fabulous!", " spectacular!" and "energetic!", this 16 piece ensemble churns out what seems to be a limitless repertoire of standards borrowing sounds from the Big Band Greats such as Artie Shaw, Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, Les Brown, Woody Herman, Count Basie and Duke Ellington to name but a few.

Now in it's 18th year, this authentic dance orchestra has left it's mark in the entertainment industry, creating a legacy of memorable engagements and a long list of returning fans.

" I like to think that the current pop swing fad was made possible by guys like me, not so old pros who have always had working big bands, regardless of what is going on at the time"

Anthony Terpstra
